UNS Controsoil by Ultum Nature Systems is a planted-aquarium substrate from Japan made of high-quality natural soil and volcanic ash. It buffers water to a slightly acidic pH of around 6.8 and lowers hardness without releasing the high ammonia levels that cause early algae spikes in many aqua soils. It supports healthy plant root growth and is suitable for tropical fish and shrimp, available in black and brown across extra-fine, fine, and normal granule sizes.
